My elementary and middle school friend Tom Samui from Switzerland makes these custom sculptures (up to 26 feet/8 meter tall!) out of recycled car and motorcycle pieces. More info and images are over here.

Each element in these mobiles can rotate independently full circle.

The circular discs are made of transparent acrylic glass (also known as transparent plexi glass), a type of plastic that looks like glass but does not break.

These mobiles create moving colored circles on the floor, wall or ceiling when a spotlight is pointed at it.

They are only 12 inches / 31 cm tall which makes them ideal for standard 8 foot / 2.4 meter ceilings.

This kinetic sculptures is made of three loose elements, standing on top of each other simply through balance. The two top elements can independently rotate full circle.
I'm not sure how to categorize these sculptures. They are kinetic, the individual parts move. Maybe call them stabiles. They are standing mobiles. I haven't seen any like them anywhere and I'm quite excited about them.

1. We sold out today (on the first day the new album was available!), which is good and bad. Thanks to everybody who bought a copy already, and sorry to everyone who wanted to but couldn't. I drove out to CDBaby's warehouse today and brought them some more copies, so they're good to go again now. Here's the direct link to the new album. Amazon on the other hand takes a while to restock.

2. I looked a little more into Bandcamp today, the service I use for the weekly free download. I realized they have a nice feature, something I've been thinking about myself for a while: If you buy the CD, you get to download the complete album immediately. And they won't run out of copies because they ship directly from me. So I just took some time tonight and got it all set up with them. CD + immediate download of the complete new album for $10 (plus shipping)
